Managed Care/PBM Residency Program
Southern Scripts is a streamlined, fully transparent, and 100% passthrough pharmacy benefit manager dedicated to self-insured plans. The Southern Scripts residency program offers a unique experience that offers a combination of flexibility for residents to gain experience in their professional interests while simultaneously progressing through the program that is modeled around ASHP residency learning outcomes. This program allows for residents to write and present research projects on a regional and national level as well as the creation of pharmacy benefit programs, policies, and procedures. Additionally, residents will have the opportunity to gather an extensive background of experience in rotations including but not limited to:

Current PGY-1 Managed Care Pharmacy Residents

Kenzie Donaldson
Kenzie grew up in Southern California and moved to Utah to complete his Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of Utah in 2022. He has worked at both Walmart and Kroger pharmacies and has enjoyed interacting with patients face-to-face. He is excited to join SouthernScripts where he hopes to also be a disruptor in the PBM industry finding solutions to improve members’ health, both physically and financially. Outside of work Kenzie enjoys hiking the many mountains of Utah with his dog Red, playing board games and video games with friends or family, or just relaxing on the couch watching Netflix.

Nasir Kaker
Mohammad Nasir Kaker received his Bachelor of Science from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. He continued to pursue his education as a dual Doctor of Pharmacy and Masters of Pharmacogenomics and Personalized Medicine student at Shenandoah University in Fairfax, VA. During his time in pharmacy school, he was the president of his school’s Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy’s (AMCP) student chapter. He later served as the Vice-Chair of AMCP’s national Student Pharmacist Committee. Mohammad now continues his work with AMCP as a committee member for the organization’s School of Pharmacy Relations Committee. His professional interests involve clinical program development, clinical consulting, and addressing health disparities/inequities. During his free time, Mohammad enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, swimming, and long bike rides by the water.

Paulina Liepinyte
Paulina Liepinyte was born in Kaunas, Lithuania, and grew up in Farmington, Utah. She graduated from the University of Utah College of Pharmacy in 2022 with a Doctor of Pharmacy. During her undergraduate and graduate career, Paulina worked as a pharmacy intern for a local hospital where she learned the importance of pharmacy communications and services. As a resident, she hopes these experiences will help her gain new knowledge in the field of managed care. She is interested in formulary management and helping large populations gain access to necessary therapies. In her free time, she enjoys playing with her African Red-Bellied parrot, hanging out with friends, and enjoying the outdoors with her family.
Past PGY-1 Managed Care Pharmacy Residents

Matt Mallisee
Matt is originally from Des Moines, Iowa and currently lives in Omaha, Nebraska. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and is currently working towards a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. He is primarily interested in finding efficient and innovative solutions to reduce unnecessary drug spending for both patients and employer groups. He is currently working on his research project focused towards developing a reference-based pricing platform designed to incentivize the use of lower cost, therapeutically equivalent medications. In his free time, he spends his time with his friends and family, following Nebraska athletics, and enjoying the outdoors.

John Jackson
John graduated from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2015. After working for several years in hospice and long-term care pharmacy, that focused on providing mail order services to patients across the country, John decided to expand his horizons with a pharmacy residency program. Starting off cycle in the fall of 2020, he began his PGY-1 Managed Care Residency at Southern Scripts where his interests included data analysis, clinical management, and cost savings programs. Outside of work John is an avid reader who enjoys cooking, playing with his two dogs, and spending time with his family.

Jessica Dotson
Jessica Dotson received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. She then went on to obtain her dual Doctor of Pharmacy and Master of Business Administration degrees from Shenandoah University (SU) also in Fairfax, Virginia. While in pharmacy school she helped to revitalize SU’s AMCP student chapter and participated in the national AMCP P&T Committee Competition, as well as placed as first runner-up in the APhA-ASP National Patient Counseling Competition. Her managed care residency began in July 2021, where her interests include prior authorization, specialty pharmacy and data analytics. Outside of residency, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, eating good food, and occasionally binge-watching shows on Netflix.

Hyland Braddy
Hyland Braddy grew up in Milledgeville, Georgia and graduated from the University of Georgia in 2021 with his Pharm.D. While in undergrad and pharmacy school, Hyland worked as an intern for a local hospital and retail pharmacy as well as a consultant intern with Southern Script. As a resident, he hopes to be able to apply these previous experiences to further advance the field of managed care while expanding his clinical and professional knowledge. His current areas of interest include clinical consulting, implementing new company initiatives, and applying and updating the prior approval process. Outside of work, he enjoys playing golf, fishing, cooking, and spending time with his Border Collie, Ace.

Danielle Perrodin
Danielle Perrodin was born and raised in Natchitoches, LA. She received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Her managed care residency began in July 2018, where her interests include data analytics, specialty medications, and maximizing savings while improving patient care. She is currently working on her research project, implementing a new clinical program to target prescription drug spend on diabetes medications and testing supplies. Outside of residency, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, walking her dogs, reading, working out, and traveling.

Mindy Huynh
Mindy Huynh received her Bachelor of Science at the University of Tampa and her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of South Florida. While in pharmacy school, she completed a research internship researching pharmacist care impact on Medicare quality measures and participated in the national AMCP P & T competition. Her managed care residency began in July 2019 where her interests include specialty pharmacy, prior authorizations, and navigating the pharmacy benefit. Outside of the residency program, she enjoys eating new cuisine, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.

Travis Baughn
Working in the pharmacy industry since 2008, Travis has focused on diversifying his skills and experiences to understand the PBM industry. Extensive experience with retail pharmacy, third party contracting, pharmacy benefit management, managed care markets and client relations has led to a PharmD from the University of Kansas, and a PGY-1 Managed Care Residency at Southern Scripts in 2014-2015. Upon completion of the residency, Travis served in an executive level role at Southern Scripts as the Chief Administrative Officer and Director of Clinical Programs until December 2015. Travis currently works within the managed care arena developing clinical programs and strategies for a variety of different clients through leveraging clinical analytics, care management programs and utilization management programs.

Lora Underwood
Lora received her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2012. After practicing as a retail and managed care pharmacist for a few years, Lora decided to build upon her clinical skills and knowledge by pursing a pharmacy residency program. In 2015, she began a PGY-1 Managed Care Residency at Southern Scripts where her interests included clinical management programs and data analysis. Outside of work, her interests include traveling, reading, and spending time with friends and family.

Theresa Doan
Theresa received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Louisiana at Monroe and Master’s in Pharmacy Administration at the University of Houston. Prior pharmacy experiences include retail, hospital, DHH/Louisiana Medicaid and prior authorization, and health outcomes research. She wants to bridge together her clinical knowledge, retail experience and research skills by finding solutions in effectively managing drug spending while prioritizing patient’s quality of care. Her current managed care project is implementing an opioid management program.

Karishma Dewnani
Karishma is from Columbia, South Carolina. She received her Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD.) from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2019. After practicing as a community/retail pharmacist, Karishma decided to pursue a PGY-1 Managed Care Residency with Southern Scripts. During her time as a resident, Karishma was able to work with different members of the clinical team and gain an understanding of the various departments within the company. Karishma learned a lot about the prior authorization process during the inception of the internal Prior Authorization team at Southern Scripts. She uses her retail and managed care experience to help manage drug spending while prioritizing patient care. Outside of work, Karishma enjoys spending time with friends and family, watching movies, and traveling.

Christopher Fung-On
Christopher Fung-On received his Doctorate in Pharmacy from the University of South Florida College of Pharmacy. While in pharmacy school, he was heavily involved in his AMCP student chapter holding various positions and participating in the national AMCP P & T competition. Christopher interned as a Research Associate for Dymaxium, a market access dossier system, providing drug pipeline P & T documents and information to payers, PBMs and hospitals. He began a PGY-1 Managed Care Residency at Southern Scripts in 2019 with a focus around data analytics and clinical informatics. Outside of work, his interests include cooking, baking, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

Colleen Whitehead
Dr. Colleen Whitehead is originally from Natchitoches, LA. She received her Bachelor of Science degree at Louisiana State University, received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at Medical University of South Carolina, and her Master’s in Business Administration degree from The Citadel. She is currently working on her Manage Care residency project to develop a Southern Scripts Drug Trend Report. Outside of residency, she enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Andrew Colvin
Andrew received his Doctor of Pharmacy from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2017. While attending pharmacy school Andrew also enrolled at The Citadel College to pursue a Master’s in Business Administration.
After completing a managed care internship with a Medicaid health plan, Andrew decided to build upon his clinical skills and knowledge by pursuing a managed care residency.
In 2017, he began a PGY-1 Managed Care Residency at Southern Scripts where his interests include plan design and implementation of cost savings programs. Outside of work, Andrew enjoys spending time outdoors and hanging out with friends and family.
