  1. Application and CV must be submitted by January 7, 2022

  1. Yes, each resident is responsible for being on-call, typically for 1 or 2 weeks each month, and creating, maintaining, and sending out the on-call calendar.
  2. On-call requirements include:
    • Clinical support to all Southern Scripts departments
    • Available Monday – Friday 5 pm CST – 7 am CST and 12 am CST – 11:59 pm CST Saturday – Sunday
    • Assessment and timely resolution of customer service department inquiries that require clinical support.
    • The Clinical Team will be available for back-up should the resident have questions/concerns regarding clinical support

Southern Scripts has chosen to not obtain ASHP accreditation as we feel it allows for a unique flexibility for our residents to spend more time on their professional areas of interest while simultaneously following many components of an accredited curriculum. Some specific requirements for residencies to be accredited with ASHP do not fit the business model of all companies that offer residencies, especially in the managed care space. The residency is still a structured program that is modeled around ASHP residency learning outcomes and provides a very immersive and diverse educational experience for residents to start a career within the managed care field.
  1. Yes, we host APPE managed care students from multiple colleges of pharmacy and residents will be expected to assist in precepting these students. Our affiliation with the University of Louisiana-Monroe and the Medical University of South Carolina allow residents the opportunity for additional student interaction through academia opportunities as well.
  1. A few of our previous residents are currently employed with Southern Scripts. Other previous residents are employed with higher education institutions and large healthcare and managed care organizations. Job titles include: Clinical Account Executive, Clinical Pharmacist, Formulary Management Pharmacist, Director of Clinical Operations, Clinical Operations Advisor, and Pharmacist Analyst.
